The Summer Algebra Institute (SAI) is a CSU grant that has been successfully run through West Angeles Church for the past several years in Los Angeles, and for the first time in Long Beach in 2011.  We are pleased to again offer SAI to Long Beach families this summer, held at local church sites, in accordance with the CSU grant requirements.

The instructor will teach the topics typical to the first semester of Algebra 1A using various culturally relevant math instruction using practical, “every day” and “hands on” models and processes to open up new understandings of Algebra concepts.

Experts all agree that youth’s ultimate success in college is traced back to how they did in Algebra in HS. Hence, CSU’s interest in funding SAI state-wide again for 2012.

If you are interested in enrolling your student (7th through 9th grade as of Fall 2012), please note that there is an application process and mandatory testing for placement.  Consistent attendance is a requirement of the program, as it is critical to success.  This program is a very low cost but intensive program proven to increase student achievement and understanding in algebra.  Please visit our Join Our Mailing List page and check "SAI Long Beach" to get information sent to you.  Enrollment is extremely limited, so don't wait to contact us.
