FAFSA Help & Key Information

Filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the appropriate deadline will ensure you will receive prompt consideration for financial help so you can make the best college choice for your youth.  The FAFSA is a complicated form with more than 200 fields, and the potential for errors is very high.  We have years of experience in filing the FAFSA for parents to ensure the most efficient processing of the application.  Click HERE to view, print, or download the Data Form we will require along with your payment.  If you would like help, please follow these three key steps:

Step 1 - Determine Deadlines

Although many college financial aid due dates are actually after the dates listed below, please observe these dates as they generally cover all types of colleges.

NOTE:  Certain private schools will also require a CSS profile due March 1.  Please click on the following link to see if a school on your list does require it:
List of schools that require a CSS profile

If a CSS profile is needed, there is a separate $65 fee to handle this for you.  For schools with a CSS profile due by February 1 (such as USC and George Washington University), we must receive your FAFSA data form no later than January 20 to assist you in filing both.

For parents of students entering/attending a four-year university:

Parents of Fall 2013 Freshmen:
The FAFSA should be filed between Jan 1 and Feb 1.
If you want us to assist you, please submit your data form to us no later than January 20 to meet this deadline.

Parents of Continuing University Students:
The FAFSA should be filed between Feb 1 and Mar 31.
If you want us to assist you, please submit your data form to us no later than March 20 to meet this deadline.

Parents of ALL community college students:
The FAFSA should be filed between February 1 and February 28 optimally.  If you want us to assist you, please submit your data form to us before the end of February.

Step 2 - Data Form

Please download and complete the FAFSA data form as soon as possible. Please return the completed and signed form to us by the deadline you determined in Step 1 in one of two ways:

1) Scan and email all four pages to us

2) Drop it off (do not mail) at our office:

West Angeles Church

Los Angeles, CA 90018
Tel: Ext. 2628

Click here to download the FAFSA Data Form 2013-2014 to complete and return.

Step 3 - Pay the Fee

Once you have determined your FAFSA deadline, please arrange to make the payment to the office immediately.
NOTE:  Absolutely no checks will be accepted.  Filing of the FAFSA will not be done without payment.

Note: CSS Profile Fee

If the school(s) you are applying to also requires a CSS Profile, and you want us to prepare that, you will be asked to submit an additional $65 fee payment.  We only prepare your CSS Profile after we have prepared your FAFSA.

Please Note!

1.  Please be absolutely sure that ALL data fields are filled out completely.  Failure to do so WILL delay processing.

2.  Please ensure that all information provided is true and correct to the best of your knowledge, as your signature on the final page asserting its veracity in all details is required.

3.  If you make any changes to your list of colleges AFTER submitting your data sheet to us, please IMMEDIATELY notify us of the new information so we can update your FAFSA.  If you do not notify us promptly, the financial information will not be sent to those new schools.
